Digital Only Coverage - |
|
The event is captured with digital
cameras only. All enlargements from this type of coverage are
color/digital in nature. Kodak use to produce one paper for enlargements
that was considered "optical" paper. This was meant
for enlargements from conventional negatives. They also had other
papers that were for "digital." Around 2003 Kodak stopped
two separate versions of their papers and combined them into
one paper. So now, with some sparse exceptions, all color prints
are now digital prints. This can also be true even for film (negative)
based originals. Most labs, from 1-hour to large professional
facilities, will scan traditional film and then drop it into
their work flow as if the file were captured digitally. So in
terms of color work, digital is essentially the only thing labs
now offer. |

Digital & Traditional
BW Film Coverage - |
|
This coverage includes the above
digital cameras for the majority of the color images captured
but I also bring conventional cameras that use traditional black
& white (negative) film. From the traditional bw film I can
hand-print "real" bw enlargements in my darkroom. In
the professional arena these are called silver-based images.
A traditional darkroom is now referred to as a wet-darkroom,
as opposed to the dry darkroom that is Photoshop/digital manipulation
software packages and an inkjet printer. |

In black & white enlargements
I offer two types of papers: RC and fiber. You can read more
about them here. I hand-process
both types of paper, using archival processing methods that always
include toning of the print at the end of it's wet processing
cycle. Because of the way I process the papers and because they
are traditional bw enlargements, the paper itself will last much
longer than anything color/digital based. As long as my suppliers
produce the raw materials for me to offer my clients traditional
bw enlargements, I will continue to hand-print these unique and
treasured prints. |
